Dear Parents,
A lot has been happening here at GVI Parker. New classrooms and new Teachers! Last week the children had fun learning and reading Dr. Seuss books. This week's theme is Laura Numeroff Books. We will be working with and reading, "If you give a mouse a Cookie" and "If you Give a Moose a Muffin," and many more.
We opened our third classroom. It is called "Little Village" for children 2 1/2-3 years old. Potty training is a part of the schedule. If your child is not yet potty trained, don't let that hold you back from enrollment. All the teachers are willing to work with your child. This classroom has Spanish and Chinese Circle Time for the children. Ms. Cindy teaches Chinese and Ms Marcela teaches Spanish. The children get to work in small groups and have valuable time in the 7 learning centers, where they get to pick where they want to spend their playtime. We will be having a spring break camp for Global Village Academy School Age Students. Enroll soon, as the week is filling up. The cost is $240 for the week and includes all meals and snacks. Parent Teacher conferences for the Spring will be held on Tuesday May 2nd and Thursday May 4th (from 6pm-8pm). As it gets closer, there will be a sign up sheet posted at your child's classroom door. Each conference will be 15 minutes in length. Mark your calendar for our Pre-K graduation ceremony. This will be held on Friday, May 12th at 6:30 pm. Any child entering Kindergarten will be in the ceremony. The children are busy preparing their Spanish and Chinese songs for this recognition and celebration! Parents of preschoolers will be asked to pick up their child by 5pm on that day, so we can prepare for the graduation. More information will be forthcoming as the date gets closer. Congrats to Ms. Cindy, Ms. Joan, and Ms. Ann for completing the Expanding Quality in Child Care course.
With this certificate, they are certified and trained in Best Practice for current early childhood education. They gave up 9 full Saturdays to complete this. I am really proud of them! Welcome to our new Spanish Teacher, Ms. Marcela. She taught Preschool for 8 years in Mexico. The children love her, and she has great ideas for the classroom. This month's book orders are due on March 10th. Have a great week!
